Frequently Asked Questions• A place to heal and a safe space to feel
Chances are you have already experienced the trauma that is challenging you.
What remains though are the intense feelings of distress and hurt in your body.
FAQ: “What happens if I start crying? I'm frightened that if I start,
I’ll never stop”
Your feelings and their discharge ~ your tears, your anger, your fears,
your anxieties are all welcome at innerShe. Tears, raging anger, shaking,
yawning are all ways that your body lets go of deep painful experiences.
At innerShe we provide the therapeutic container for you to release
your feelings and then provide you with the resources to help you
live with them.
• Artistic processes
With non-verbal artistic processes, your emotions can express themselves
in ways your words do not. innerShe uses watercolour painting, drawing, claywork, doll making,
colour therapy and visualisations to help your heart and soul express and reveal themselves deeply.
FAQ: “What happens if I'm not creative? I'm hopeless at drawing."
Creative therapy is not about how pretty you can draw a picture, paint with watercolours or make things out of clay.
Creative therapy uses these mediums to let your emotional body express without the limitations of words.
• A feminine approach to counselling
Feminine focused counselling utilises the biological strengths of the female reproductive organs to define its nature: abundant, magnetic, receptive, nurturing, life giving, non linear, flowing and intuitive.
FAQ: “Does that mean your counselling is floaty or wishy-washy? Or militant and man hatingly feminist?”
At innerShe feminine counselling gives you the space to explore your own phenomenology (reality). This is done through your intuition and logic, your feelings and rationality; by verbal and nonverbal methodologies; with your intellect and sexuality and with both gentle and fierce compassion. innerShe is anything but wishy-washy. And we deeply love men.
• Body-focused Holistic Psychotherapy
FAQ's: “ What are body focused processes? I hate being made to stand up and do things. What do I have to do?”
Basically, in a body -based process you will 'step into' your body and go nonverbally to where your emotional pain is being stored. The through creativity we work to explore and heal this site. Some people do feel strange doing the body focused processes, it can be confronting because, the processes will make you feel.
When you commit to deep healing, resistance usually shows - just before a breakthrough. I only ever ask you to go a toenail over the edge of your comfort zone. This is the gentleness of a women's way of counselling.
• An Interfaith Paradigm
FAQ " You mentioned God. I'm not into that spiritual stuff. Anyway, I don't believe in Him anymore."
innerShe is Interfaith (ie All of them) and has no intent to prescibe any religious ideology or belief - except that Love is All things and everything comes home to Love. No matter which religious or spiritual faith you come from, innerShe is committed to supporting you and your relationship (even if its no relationship) with your Spiritual Self and Love.
• That you are the expert of your world
No one knows your pain or your path to healing like you do. My job is to walk with you with a metaphorical backpack of skills, guiding and supporting you along your journey. My job is to make myself redundant! In other words, equip you with the skills, insights and resources to enable you to leave your painful place, avoid the pitfalls and stay on track to your life of joy.
FAQ: “How long will I have to come to counselling and how often?”
This is entirely up to you. The multi-session blocks are valid for 12 months from the initial session. Usually clients start with weekly sessions and drop back to fortnightly and monthly as life and their wellbeing improves.
